I have, although not as a PSTN gateway. I have one set up for SIP,
voicemail and have peers to other asterisk and other SIP gateways.
It is a bit intimidating at first, as there is a steep enough learning
curve due to its rich feature set, but once you get it you'll have a lot
of fun ;-)
All in all a really nice piece of software. The dev community is very
active and it is being used in production at a lot of businesses and
other sites.
Support for PSTN cards (single line, Basic rate ISDN, up to multiple
PRIs appears to be very well supported.
If I were putting in a new phone system I wouldn't look any further than
