Well unless you post your partitioning setup and bootloader we cannot tell

SCSI boots in just the same way as IDE, its just the controller thats
different.

PXE boot. You need to set it up. Involves bootp/dhcp and tftp server.
Fairly easy to do, keep meaning to do so but I need to check the MAC
addresses of my servers and make DHCP reservations blah blah blah.
