Wed Nov 3 21:02:40 GMT 2004

The following are the minutes of the committee meeting, November 2nd.
Many thanks to Frank Duignan for taking minutes in my absence =)

Present:
Paul O'Malley
Niall Walsh
Niall O Broin
Martin List Petersen
Frank Duignan

Apologies Noirin Plunkett.

Item 1 : "Make IT Secure" - This is a government initiative that ILUG
may be interested in contributing to.
Paul O'Malley to draft a press release in line with this.

Item 2: Management of the Linux.ie server (dagda) and possible cover
for Colm Buckley.
Secretary to determine discuss with Colm the sort of cover
he may need.

Item 3: Advancing the objectives of ILUG
(see http://www.linux.ie/legal/constitution.php)
Sponsorship could be sought from companies making money from Linux in
Ireland such as IBM, Novell, Dell etc.
Paul O'Malley to investigate presentation at ISME conferences.
A prize was suggested for the best(*) contribution to the Linux kernel
by a student in any educational institution in Ireland. (*definition
of "best" to be decided)
LinuxWorld/Expo - are the membership willing to plan a stand further
in advance, with more autonomy and the chance to make a better job of
it - at the risk of losing our presence there?

AOB - none

The Secretary =)
