For example about once a month MSDN invite me (along with hundreds of other developers) to a free night out with a movie, free beer and free food, i also get a free t-shirt which i use for painting or when i need a rag to clean stuff with.
Anyway, at these "nights out" i usually get to talk to several developers about the power of Linux. Around 99% of the ones i talk to mention that they are very interested in trying out Linux, however the best development tools are written for windows and they need to make money and windows is the bigger market.
The best selling point is almost always the fact of viruses, a developer would say "Yeah i got this adware on my computer and i thought someone hacked into my site and put links up, but it was just my machine" or "Yeah i got a virus and it does this or that", i simply say "I get viruses all the time, but they never affect me because i don't use windows"!
So next time i go i am considering burning a few copies of Mandrake / Fedora and bringing them along... If I'm invited again of course after this message being published publicly on the internet.
