Hi folks,
I could do with a bit of help. This problem is somewhat similar to one which I had before... but this added twist is
causing me headaches.
Basically.. I have a folder with 185,020 files in it of 4 different types (each individual data file has 4 file types).
Basically.. what I am tying to do is rename everyone of these files.
Now, I'm happy enough to copy these files to another directory and rename them that way... Obviously this is
going to require XARGS... but I just cant seem to get my head round the best way to do this....
The naming system is as follows (this is an example filename that actually exists)
RDCR011_D09_2004-03-30.scf
In this case.. I want to change the name to
xRDCR011_D09.scf
Basically.. I want to remove the characters "_2004-03-30"
Now.. these are not set characters and change for each file.
I'm happy enough to run this as 4 processes.. i.e., one for each file type.
Any help will be hugely HUGELY appreciated!
Thanks
Austin
