I've used this service with Mozilla 1.7.2 and 1.7.3
The service is very specific about Java support
for their crypto plugin.
I had v1.4.2_03 but had to upgrade to 1.4.2_04
before it would work.
That said, I can't see any Sun version other that 1.3
mentioned at http://www.ros.ie/info/requirements.html#java
