Not sure which service he is speaking about, but the Eircom one is
simple - the box can be used as either a modem or a router. The router
is easier. Simply plug an ethernet cable between your computer and the
box (no hub or switch needed), and either give your ethernet card an IP
between 192.168.1.2-192.168.1.253, or set it up as DHCP.
The router is set up by default as 192.168.1.254. Use that as your
gateway, dns server, etc. You can get proper DNS servers later from the
Eircom site (they're down the left side on the support pages).
