I used http://ganttproject.sourceforge.net/ yesterday to knock up a
Gantt chart. Easy to get going and it worked well, resolving resources
for me.
Outputs pdf, png or html and looks like development is pretty active.
It's a Java app, which does scare some people off - I used it with Sun
Java 1.4.x on Linux.
