Using xname as a DNS I have set up my own postfix and apache web server.
Every now and again I notice this in the postfix log ....
Oct 6 08:01:49 mail postfix/smtpd[6296]: warning: 69.42.113.178:
address not listed for hostname wrkst-113-178.woodinternet.net
if I ping this name I get
>ping wrkst-113-178.woodinternet.net
PING wrkst-113-178.woodinternet.net (69.42.111.5) from 192.168.0.2 :
56(84) bytes of data.
So the ips do not match. The host name and ips vary, I am wondering if
this is a relay attempt or a spammers attempt to mail me. Should I be
configuring postfix to accept these non listed hostnames. A postconf -n
tells me that disable_dns_lookups = yes so I shouldn't be doing DNS lookups.
Any pointers ??
Thanks
Jason.
