www.doom3.com - 1.1 patch, iirc there was a sound fix in it.

I have doom3 running on Fedora core 1 but
the sound is not right.
The system is a AMD 3000XP+ with 1GB of ram and
a gforce 4600ti. I am using the on-board sound
which is supplied by an nforce2 chip set.
The game runs fine but the sound seems to be 
playing two copies with a half second delay between
them so trashing the audio.
The sound sub-system seems to work fine with everything
else, mplayer, xine etc.
Any suggestions ?
