[ILUG] ILUG AGM Announcement

[ILUG] ILUG AGM Announcement

Brian Foster blf at blf.utvinternet.co.uk
Sat Oct 16 09:01:13 IST 2004

  | Date: Fri, 15 Oct 2004 17:07:38 +0100
  | From: Proinnsias Breathnach <proinnsias at project-bob.org>
  |
  | Donncha just grepped his spam archive [ ... ] and the results
  | since 1st Sept 2004 are as follow:
  |
  | Spam with [ILUG] in the header since 2004-09-01: 9
  | ILUG posts in same timeframe: Approx 1500
  |
  | Spam percentage: 0.6%

I just checked this against my own UCE archive (which excludes
other sorts of "spam", including p0rn):

UCE with [ILUG] in the header since 2004-09-01 6
(Total amount of UCE I received since 2004-09-01) 389

Percentage of UCE from ILUG e-list: 1%
The ILUG e-list has not a significant source of UCE during
 the last c.45 days.

I cannot attend the AGM (being in France), but would vote
Against a proposal to make the list subscriber-post-only,
and For a proposal to reaffirm the current open-post policy.

  | Margin for error (donncha's finger might have slipped towards the D key
  | once or thrice) - we'll triple the spamcount and get 1.8% spam volume

( Because my counts are UCE-vs-UCE, I did not apply the
same margin of error compensation: Both counts would
have to be tripled, changing nothing. )

cheers!
