The thing to remember about 'preload' options is that they are only
really good for two things:

1) Keeping stuff around in memory as a hedge against lame VM systems.
2) Fooling you into thinking the program starts faster by loading some
of the stuff while you are waiting around for the login process to
finish instead of loading it while you are waiting around after saying
'run program'.

I suggest directing effort at either faster hardware, or smaller software.
