Depends on what filesystem you use in Linux. If it's ext3, then Partition 
Magic can be used to copy files. Partition Magic doesn't understand ReiserFS, 
though (at least last time I used it).

Best way (IMHO) ist still reserving a small FAT partition for the purpose of
