I just grepped through the kernel sources of 2.6.8.1, and I got this:
/usr/src/linux/drivers/scsi/advansys.c: ABP940U - Bus-Master PCI
Ultra (240 CDB)
So try:
# modprobe advansys
Then
# cdrecord -scanbus
# cat /proc/scsi/scsi
And tell us what happens.
