[ILUG] Best way to upgrade a laptop drive

[ILUG] Best way to upgrade a laptop drive

Thanks to everyone that sent me advice. In the end, I went with
Paulo's suggestion (using rsync to backup to file server, then rsync
to restore to fresh disk). It all worked fine apart from two mistakes
I made:

* I forgot to exclude /sys on the first run.
* I used a different layout for the new partition table - grub-install
failed but I managed to manually configure it.

Before doing this, I briefly tried mondorescue but it didn't work
(lots of worrying errors that weren't very helpful).

Feeling brave now that I have a backup of my laptop, I also upgraded
to fedora core 3-test3. It looks very good so far....

Thanks again,
Denis
