What an extraordinary thing to say! But, seriously folks...
Why do they bother? I would be inclined to believe that the email
disclaimer is a far greater nuisance and waste of bandwidth than the
occasional news story. Can they be enforced by law? What is an
"unauthorised use"? Do I have to contact Imetrex for a copy of their
by-laws? Hmmm.. Why is the company name in there? A little redundant I
would think if you're getting mail from them. Free advertising? Can't be
- nobody actually reads the disclaimer.
"Please note that e-mails are susceptible to change."
Oh, really? You gonna r00t my box and change it? Now THAT can be
enforced by law. Or perhaps they're just making a general statement
about bit-rot in which case this is useful advice.
"This communication does not create or modify any contract, and unless
otherwise stated, is not intended to be contractually binding."
Apart from your responsibility when it comes to the archiving of this
mail. Keep it? It might be important! But that disclaimer... Am I
allowed to archive it or is that the sender's responsibility?
I'm not exactly sure where I'm going with this so I'll sign off... I'll
probably not even send it, actually. Oops! Damn... wish I had a
disclaimer to deal with this situation...
