Have you been able to get the modem to make a phone call, and had the
modem at the other end answer?
Does it make the nails-down-a-blackboard noise after it connects?
Does the noise finish after a few seconds?
Does the modem RX light flash at any time?
Does your chewing gum lose its flavour on the bedpost overnight?
