[ILUG] Big raid server

[ILUG] Big raid server

John Moylan john at rte.ie
Mon Sep 6 10:50:45 IST 2004

I am building some SATA raid servers using 3Ware 9500S 8 port cards and
Asus A7N8X-E Mobo's with 2 Silimage Raid SATA ports built in. I would
like to use the 3Ware card for storage space and configure the /boot
partition & system disks on 2 SATA disks S/W mirrored and plugged into
the Mobo.

However....the mother board won't let me boot off of any SATA disks
attached to it once the 3Ware PCI card is installed. Does anyone know a
way around this - aside from using a boot floppy.

John
