[ILUG] Going to try debian

[ILUG] Going to try debian

Well it seems "testing" is the default in the net installer (which is a
lot more friendly than the full stable isos btw). The interface for the
manual selection of packages is a little clunky. (play minisweeper in
the actions menu?? :-) ) and 7+ packages seem to be missing from the
ie.debian.org mirror.

So installed, and the basic system is up and running.

I edited /etc/apt/sources.list

currently I have testing in there... the default for the net installer.

I've changed my sources.list to

deb ftp://ftp.esat.net/mirrors/ftp.debian.org/debian sarge main
deb ftp://security.debian.org/ sarge/updates main
deb ftp://ftp.esat.net/mirrors/non-us.debian.org/debian-non-US
sarge/non-US main
deb ftp://non-us.debian.org/debian-security/ sarge/updates main

next I ran run apt-get upgrade.

So that all worked. Time to read up on apt-get now I guess. Install
xfree86 and a window manager and go from there... .

Thanks for all the help guys
