[ILUG] [Fwd: I fought the scammer... and I won.]

Hi John,

Well done, wow we need someone of your caliber in South Africa. I have also had no end of problem with spam and yes, HACKER swine.

I am using Zone Alarm which gave me the IP address as well as all the usual details, which I sent to both TELKOMSA (my service provider) as well as SAIX (whom Telkom is using as the connection?) Both ignored my emails for over a year. Eventually I contacted our National Press.

We monitored the movements but some of the emails were intercepted and we were both hit with a virus.

The matter was reported to our SA Police, and to cut a looooooooooooooooooong frustrating story short, the SA INTELLIGENCE and SA Police declined to proscecute, in spite of evidence being found by the forensics unit at SA Intelligence.

All this time, I sit without a computer, and my husband's newly formatted PC has also been affected by the same hackers, because I now have to access my Telkom mail via Webmail, and subsequently mail2web. I have also detected little - marks in the chek boxes next to each mail item.

Do you have any ideas or suggestions as to what I can do? We just do not have people who have adequate knowledge on Computers, let alone Computer Security matters.

I am just plain sick and tired of thes 'DEMONS' who shoul all be put behind bars.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Regards
Carole
