Open up a terminal and run 'ymessenger' at the prompt. Log in to the
Yahoo client and get someone to send you a file. That should tell you
what's wrong. My guess is that it depends on a library you don't have
installed, or have the wrong version of.
As it's a GTK application, it may need an earlier version of the GTK
libraries than you have installed. Try running "ldd `which ymessenger`"
(without the double quotes obviously) and this will tell you what
libraries it is linked against. Make sure that all of these are
present.
