For the laugh.. I wrote two gstreamer based mp3 players.
Neither of them has an interface as such. They take a list of
directories and play the files there at random.
Assuming you have gstreamer plugins, they'll play most things (I've used
.ape, .mp3, .m4a, and .flac files).
The version in python needs the python-gst language bindings to work. It
hooks directly in gstreamer. The perl version uses gst-launch and system
to do the work.
