[ILUG] suggestions on a USB<->Bluetooth dongle?

  | anyone have any suggestions on a USB↔bluetooth dongle? [ ... ]

thanks for the suggestions and comments.

I eventually bought a Gigabyte model (no particular
reason), and it seems to being working fine. but,
as Rob said of a different dongle, the blinking blue
light is bloody annoying in a darkened room.... ;-\

it does seem to be the case that if I unplug the dongle
whilst it is in the `up' state, the Linux system hangs!
and if I take the dongle `down', then I cannot bring it
back `up' without removing and reinserting it. ;-(
(since I don't like hanging my system, the testing has
not been too exhaustive. hence, the proximate causes
and/or work-arounds might be something else?)

I'm still having some trouble doing much of anything
with the mobile phone (Motorola v600), but I expected
this and so am not (yet!) too concerned. I have been
able to bind with the phone, query it, but so far no
luck with (e.g.) obexftp(1). guess I now know what
 next weekend's project will be!

and I've had the same experience as Juan, detecting
 other people's bluetooth-enabled somethings (mobiles,
I assume --- none has stayed in range for long enough
 to (manually) query further).

cheers!
