[ILUG] Problems installing Win XP Pro after FE3

[ILUG] Problems installing Win XP Pro after FE3

Hi all,

I've just installed FE3 on an Iqon laptop without a hitch. I've
partitioned the drive as follows:

_____________________________________________
Device partition Start End Size Type

/dev/hda1 /boot 1 13 101Mb ext3 Primary

/dev/hda2 /win 14 970 7507Mb VFAT Primary

/dev/hda3 /home 971 1608 5005Mb ext3 Primary

/dev/hda4 1609 3648 16002Mb extended Primary

/dev/hda5 / 1609 1672 502Mb ext3 Logical

/dev/hda6 /var/www 1673 2182 4001Mb ext3 Logical

/dev/hda7 /var 2183 2820 5005Mb ext3 Logical

/dev/hda8 /usr 2821 3584 5993Mb ext3 Logical

/dev/hda9 3585 3647 494Mb SWAP Logical

FREE 3647 3648 8Mb FREE SPACE

The plan is to install Win XP Pro on /dev/hda2.
Anaconda, the FC3 installer, didn't have a NTFS option so I had to
format /dev/hda2 to VFAT for the subsequent Windows XP Pro install.
So I changed the type from "VFAT" to "NTFS Volume set" (87) using fdisk
in FC3.

Only problem is that when I boot from the Win XP Pro CD all I get is the
following message: "Setup is inspecting your computers hardware
configuration..." which stays on screen for about 3 seconds and then
nothing - a completely blank black screen. What in tarnation is going
on? Anybody have any ideas?

TIA

Patrick Stack
