[ILUG] mutt-ng

[ILUG] mutt-ng

Hi,

just been trying out mutt-ng (the "next generation"). This is a
development fork after a bunch of guys seem to have lost patience with very
slow development of and/or refusal of patches from official mutt.

  http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/wlg/6565
  http://mutt-ng.berlios.de/
  http://mutt-ng.supersized.org/

Seems to be rather nice, including:

  - header caching (which has in fairness been added to mutt since)
  - nntp support. Very nice for checking ilug on gmane.
	c nntp://news.gmane.org/gmane.user-groups.linux.ilug.general
  - a side folder pane (like in Thunderbird/Outlook)
  - better view support for format=flowed attachments

The header caching makes a big difference, you must enable it with
something like:

  set header_cache="~/.mutt/headers"

regardless of which version of mutt you're using. Actually this patch had
been in the official Debian package for a while but I just hadn't
configured it.

Gavin
