Some might suggest that that is a little drastic. If all you wanted was a 
hint as to what the web server is running on:

  echo "HEAD / HTTP/1.0\n" | nc www.daz3d.com 80

can give you a few lines of header information including:
  Server: Apache/1.3.33 (Unix) PHP/4.3.10 mod_perl/1.27
