I've had similar problems in the past with sa-learn killing boxes on me
while rebuilding histories.
IME breaking down your mail folder into multiple smaller boxes & then
running sa-learn on the chomped boxes in turn "got around" the problem.
HOWEVER.....
once the toks have been updated and it's only new messages in said
mailbox you're learning from SA seems to have no problem with large
mailboxes & machines stay alive ...
