http://www.linuxprinting.org - normally pretty good at finding the printer
you want..
HP have done huge stuff with their Linux support... we have a couple of
HP printers and they work just perfectly. We even have desktop scanning
from one of the multifunction lasers ( everyone has xsane installed, and it's
net-configuration pulls from saned on a server with a usb connection to the
printer - plonk a document on the flatbed, and scan to your desktop ;-)

The HP2550 is the one recommended on the linuxprinting.org site.
The only other advice I'd give - is go for a printer that has multiple
separate ink tanks... dont' go for the all in one's - or you end up
throwing away half full tanks just because you've used all the
cyan or blue...
Anyway - why are you looking for a printer ? Have we finally
found something that emacs can't do for you ? Tsk tsk :-)
