[ILUG] Copying between ext3 and vfat

[ILUG] Copying between ext3 and vfat

Kevin Philp kevin at cybercolloids.net

My understanding is that:

ext3 - case sensitive & case preserving

vfat - neither case sensitive or case preserving

So if I copy a directory from an ext3 volume to a vfat volume will I get into
problems with files that differ only in the case of their filenames?

The reason for asking is that we are thinking of using rsync to copy peoples
work files onto USB pen drives so they can use them at home - where they
invariably have WinXP but all the files are on their works computer which is
Linux.

Kevin.
