[ILUG] Gmail not sending under Gnome browsers. !! except with Konqueror

I don´t think you need java to get gmail to work. Unless I'm mistaken
it simply uses Javascript, and XmlHttpRequest(), et al.

What version Treefrog of your Gnome browser(I´m assuming its epiphany)
are you using?
