But, Timothy, you just aren't employing the approved viewpoint!  It
doesn't use Shiny New Technology<tm> -- and the delusion that wikifying
a site reliably increases participation is a very popular one.

Anyhow, I just wanted to echo your view, and cite as an example 
Ka Chun Leung's "PortSentry and Snort Compared" article at
http://www.linux.ie/articles/portsentryandsnortcompared.php -- 
which I consider to be a classic.
