| In fairness, the links at the top aren't exactly prominent.
the word you are looking for is “invisible”... ½ ;-)
I check the website every other day or so from work,
and never ever noticed the bar at the top until the
various comments in this thread made me look closer.
the bar is tiny --- I had to set the view at 180%
magnification before I could read it --- and commits
the far-too-common GUI sin of low contrast: dark text
on a dark(-ish) background (black on light grey/gray,
which admittedly isn't quite as unreadable as the more
usual dark gray/grey, but is still fscking difficult
to read).
as to what the various items are, that ranges from
completely opaque to rather clear:
(corner blob) . opaque.
planetILUG . . opaque. this thread implies it has
something to do with blogs?
lamp . . . . . opaque.
scoil. . . . . opaque, albeit I recall from other
threads it has something to do
with schools?
cork . . . . . presumably a local LUG.
midlands . . . presumably a local LUG.
stats . . . . . reasonably clear.
legal info . . clear.
constitution . clear.
copyright . . . clear.
ILUG FAQ . . . clear.
login . . . . . huh? opaque.
the above are _guesses_: I did not bother to follow
any of these links, all(?) of which are new to me!
the bar at the top may indeed be Ok, and may even be
useful, but the posted fact the several people were
unaware of its existence is a hint maybe should be
improved? (I myself have no specific suggestions
other than to improve the contrast (esp.!).)
b.t.w., is there any reason the wiki-ers couldn't
_experiment_ with a wiki? that is, instead of a
big(?) effort to convert the site, set up a parallel
site, add another (invisible :-) ) tab to the bar,
and see what happens? other than adding an invisible
tab, the current admins wouldn't have to be involved
(unless they wanted to be).
cheers!
