Typically a new installation will format the filesystems so you're likely
screwed there. OTOH, is it possible that the CD simply did not get fixed
rather than not get written? You should be able to see the data track on
the CD. If there's a decent track on the CD, a 'cdrecord -fix' may be
enough to make the data show.
