Well, I'd like to wish you the best of luck with that, however the
ILUG already has over 300 members in Dublin, and most of its events
are held in Dublin, so you might be multiplying entities without
necessity.

*Might* be a better plan to just subscribe to social at linux.ie and see
if anyone's interested in a Dublin-specific meet.

If you *do* want to set up a culchie-free LUG, ILUG might be able to
help with resources, at the discretion of the committee.

Fair point, its just I had heard of the South-East LUG & the Midlands LUG
and wondered why there wasn't a Dublin LUG, i've never heard of any Linux
events in Dublin organised by ILUG. What was the last event ILUG organised
and when?

IMO I think that ILUG are missing a focus point in Dublin for new users to
gather around. Unless you know of ILUG's existence or go looking for a Linux
"group" (had to Google to find you) in Ireland I don't think any newb would
have heard of ILUG. The only time I ever saw ILUG active was in the RDS
where they had a stall at a Computer show. It has a very low profile. I've
never seen any advert or article about ILUG in "PC Live", or other popular
tech magazines in Ireland. Why isn't there? Where's the Linux promotion?

I hear a lot about POTD's and yes I know what it means but what happens at
it? Is it just a load of uber-geeks talking shop and sinking pints? Is there
any kind of hands on instruction like installs etc?

Just to clarify this isn't an ILUG bash attempt I'm just trying to figure
out where Linux is at in Dublin.

Robbie

Btw as per others advice I've joined the social mailing list and I look
forward to seeing what it has to offer.
