* gnupod is a command-line tool, but it uses some sort of crazy custom
database thing. You have to convert that to the iPod's own format to get
the iPod to play it. I couldn't see the point.
* Amarok - in addition to being a great music player - has good iPod
integration. But it has problems correctly setting some tags in the
iPod's DB....like genre. So I couldn't use it. Hopefully soon it'll be
fixed.
* gtkpod is the most reliable option and is what I use myself, even
though
I feel the interface is truly awful.
But, basically, use gtkpod for now.
*However*, gtkpod has now separated its library and UI. Hopefully soon
we will see improved Amarok support (for one) and emerging command-line
tools. Exciting times...
