 yer missing /usr/lib/libSDL_mixer-1.2.so
 which is what the ld(1) `-l' option (as in
 `-lSDL_mixer') searches for.
 I have no idea why you don't have it.
 it exists on my SUSE 9.1 system:

    $ rpm -ql SDL_mixer
    /usr/bin/playmus
    /usr/bin/playwave
    /usr/include/SDL/SDL_mixer.h
    /usr/lib/libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0
    /usr/lib/libSDL_mixer-1.2.so.0.2.3
    /usr/lib/libSDL_mixer.a
    /usr/lib/libSDL_mixer.la
    /usr/lib/libSDL_mixer.so
    /usr/share/doc/packages/SDL_mixer
    /usr/share/doc/packages/SDL_mixer/CHANGES
    /usr/share/doc/packages/SDL_mixer/README
    $ 

 the above listing (for an admittedly different
 version of SUSE and SDL_mixer) suggests you may
 also be missing other files?
