[ILUG] Bill G Interview

[ILUG] Bill G Interview

Paul mcclane at eircom.net
Wed Feb 2 23:39:49 GMT 2005

"Microsoft founder Bill Gates has stated in an interview with German
news magazine Der Spiegel on the topic of the security risks of
operating systems from virus attacks that Linux is "even more
susceptible in many respects". But the German Linux Association is not
about to let that statement stand. Elmar Geese, President of the
Association, called Gates' claim a "demonstrable lie". Anyone, he
explained, can visit the web pages of the German Bureau for Security and
Information Technology (BSI) to see how unsafe Microsoft programs are,
while Linux operating systems from Red Hat and Suse have been certified
as secure software. "Even the latest worm warnings are just like the
ones before: exclusively addressing users of Microsoft systems", Geese
points out."

What complete utter FUD.
