Hi,
I have been using a smoothwall box for months to do a normal dial-up
without any problems. Recently, (late January) the smoothwall box was
unbale to connect, the logfile showing "pppd LCP: timeout sending
Config-Requests".
A google search on this showed that some ilug members had run into
similar problems with eircom with DSL .
I tried logging in with the same modem using Windows XP Pro, and it
worked first time.
I then tried booting up Knoppix 3.7 on the Windows machine, and
this worked once, but all subsequent attempts failed with a PPP
timeout.
I can only guess that Eircom have changed some ppp software at their
end, breaking something in the process.
Has anyone else experienced the same problem recently?
best regards
John Walsh
