You should check out AGNULA,
http://www.agnula.org/
they build two distributions one based on fedora and the other based
on debian. They come with a custom kernel patched for audio work and
tons and tons or preinstalled apps for audio. Everything you could
possibly need is included from the main program like Rosegraden,
Audacity and Ardour to lesser known projects like like cecilia ( a gui
frontend to the Csound language, heavy stuff !). This is definitely
the way to go for professional audio because they entire distro is
geared towards audio not general use.
