[ILUG] Network question

[ILUG] Network question

Thanks for the input!

I tested a little more and i got the results below.

watermelon is the 2.2ghz box and alow the 0.5ghz one.

ethtool output is also given below - i don't know which part is important so i
included all - the output is the same on both computers...

i have no idea whats up with the results, altho unscientific (to the extreme)
both comps had fairly uniform load wrt other programs throughout.

my best guess is that ssh does cause alow's cpuload to be the bottleneck.
maybe using the fish kioslave complicates matters in someway. if i get time
i'll try ftping files over and sftping files on the command line. I'll
report back, once i get to the bottom of this...

transfer instantiated on alow:

watermelon -> alow: 1mb/s
  cpu load on alow: max
alow -> watermelon: 1mb/s
  cpu load on alow: max

transfer instantiated on watermelon:

watermelon -> alow: 0.8mb/s
  cpu load on alow: ~ 80%
alow -> watermelon: 2.0mb/s
  cpu load on alow: max

ethtool eth0 output:
