[ILUG] nfs locking on linux

[ILUG] nfs locking on linux

John P. Looney valen at tuatha.org

I've postfix setup with /var/spool/postfix on an NFS share. Both client
and server are running portmap, statd and lockd.

[root at postie /]# service postfix start
Starting postfix: [ OK ]
[root at postie /]#

Feb 18 15:50:44 postie2 postfix/postfix-script: starting the Postfix mail system
Feb 18 15:50:44 postie2 postfix/master[4599]: fatal: open lock file pid/master.pid:
unable to set exclusive lock: No locks available
Feb 18 15:50:44 postie2 postfix: succeeded

Any idea how I can work around this? Google reckons that you can play
with postie's mailbox file locking, but not the pid file.

John
