With a prism54 card on eth0, the following works for me:
cat << EOF > /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
DEVICE=eth0
ONBOOT=yes
BOOTPROTO=dhcp
EOF
for networks without WEP. The card seems to find the ESSID and
frequency by itself..
