Have you taken a look at http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/ it's
specifically for conexant chipsets HCF & HSF. Unfortunetly reading
through their disclaimer it does appear that the free drivers will limit
speed as you say to 14.4 Kbps. Perhaps it's a good time to also upgrade
your family to broadband?
