If you don't want anything that may already be on the laptop, most
distributions will let you delete (all) the partition(s) already there
and suggest a new partition layout.
i would recommend that you just go with the suggestion
when you're more comfortable with thing you may 'wish' in future
installs to do a custom partitioning
for my desktops i never have bothered with that as i have been happy
with the installers 'suggestion'.
