I get the feeling, I've put words into your mouth a little bit here, my
mistake.

The fact that you said, that you had used ATMs in France, but,
considered on-line banking to be insecure, prompted me to state that...
SSL, is relatively well understood by LUG people, whilst ATM=>host
networking probably isn't.

Clearly though, that's not what you are saying at all.

Out of curiousity though... why don't do on-line banking or web
shopping? Is there, some security flaw, in the on-line banking process,
that makes it, /less/ reliable then... an ATM ?


Disclaimer:

I don't do on-line banking, but I plan to and yes... I would change
banks so that I could do all of my financial work on a Linux machine !
