Honestly, any time you figure out that a market relies on the "razor
blade and razor" model -- selling you the initial lock-in at around cost
and charging outrageous sums for subsequent supplies -- isn't the smart
move to avoid the entire category, absent compelling need?  The basic
economics of inkjets pretty much guarantees the aftermarket will be
rigged.
