I find Knoppix an excellent tool -
I would recommend anyone thinking of installing Linux
to see first if the Knoppix CD works OK on their machine -
but I wouldn't install it on my hard disk.

I did this once, and while it ran OK
I thought it had several deficiencies,
which I assumed was because it was not really intended
as a distribution to install.
Admittedly this was a couple of years ago,
and maybe the current Knoppix is better from this point of view.
