To most non-IT Windows users, the idea that you can save a document to
another file format by printing it is a totally non-intuitive concept.
Printers are printers, files are files, to most users. By OpenOffice
putting its PDF option just where a user would expect to find Export, it
seems much more natural, and the few steps involved are similar to many
export sequences, so I think OpenOffice got this one very much right.
Though we do roll out PdfCreator on all our PCs anyway, since it works
with all applications and very much suits those here who use PDFs a lot.
