I saw an article some time ago (no idea where, sorry) which DID some
benchmarking on Macs and Windows PCs. As far as I recall, they used the
same disk in a dual enclosure. Firewire was faster than USB 2 on the
Macs. USB 2 was faster than Firewire on the PCs.
