He's entitled to his opinions of course, but, some might say that
"silly" should be replaced with a word like "sad" or "regrettable".

On this point though, I'd point out, that with some notable exceptions,
in the main, my own experience of introducing people to Linux who aren't
"already" interested in experimentation in some way, regularly meets
with hostility and/or reflexive ignorance.
For example, in my experience, people seem to *assume* that WinWord does
everything the right way and the best way.... and to my mind seem to
suspect that you are lying when you say "Open Office does (x) just as
well or better".
Maybe it's no surprise, that your average user, who spent time getting
their ECDL and learning all the painful, mindnumbing nuiance of
Excel/Word/Access is intrinsically hostile to anything else !
